My m5odr2 manual in my f150 was starting to feel a little crusty on 1st-3rd shifts. I was running regular parts store brand ATF before. I changed to this stuff and it makes a HUGE difference. Did my power steering and transfer case while I was at it. I highly recommend using motorcraft brand ATF in anything that requires mercon or mercon v. Skip the other “equivalent” brands.

Ford products are made for Ford vehicles. The “Universal” ATF products are made for ALL vehicles. That means they had to compromise somewhere along the line. For one thing, today’s vehicles use a thinner ATF. I don’t want a thin ATF. I want a thicker fluid that will transfer more torque through the torque converter to the rear wheels.

My son broke a line out in the woods. He used a universal fluid that worked ok. Eventually we changed it, and installed the ford correct fluid. It makes a big difference. It is usually best to use ome when possible

U can never go wrong with motorcraft did a flush and filter change on my 06 p71 crown Victoria had some shift hesitation fresh fluid and a new filter shifts perfect now
