   There are tons of these products (phone holders) out there, and it may be pretty daunting to figure out which ones are the best.I ride between 4,000 and 6,000 miles per year while in my bike club, and have been testing these holders for years.There has been a survival-of-the-fittest testing going on on all of my fat bike, road bike and hybrid rides for some years as well. I have come to some tried-and-true conclusions:First off, the holders that I narrowed down to using on my bikes in past years eventually had problems and had to be replaced. When I jumped back into the market for the 3rd or 4th time, I had a lot of “do’s and don’ts”.I wanted to purchase my most recent holder again, but it was no longer available, so I looked at the many offerings with an open mind. I ended up settling on what I thought was the closest model to my old ones, but they also had some extra features over my old ones, which is great.Here are some things to consider: 1) Many of the tough looking, shell-type cases, are too heavy, offer too much of a wind profile, block the area of where you need to swipe down or up from on our phone, and block the volume controls. They often don’t even have soft pads for the phone to sit on and stabilize. Not good. 2) Some folks have derided the rubber bands that are used on this product. They ignore the advantages that they present: The bands act as mini shock absorbers and allow freedom for swiping and access to the volume controls, etc. The band may wear out after years, but TruActive gives you a bunch of them in different colors for no extra charge. I actually matched them to the highlight colors of my bikes. The bands hold in support of the side braces and the phone is totally stable. 3) One issue with all my previous holders is in facing them just the way I like. TruActive has remedied this with a pivot arm that is lockable with a twist nut. The method works perfectly. 4) Many of the holders either do not mount onto your bike well, or are only good for locking on certain sized bars. But this holder has a wide range, grip pad inserts, and comes with a couple bolt lengths for you to choose from. Also, the locking mechanism for the mount (not to be confused with its separate, pivot lock) is really easy to adjust and is very strong indeed. 5) OMG, these are some of the least inexpensive holders! That really made me second-guess myself. How can the holders with the lowest cost be the best??? I did not buy them based on price, but the pricing is a great bonus.Finally, these phone holders will be my go-to for the foreseeable future. I now have 5 of this TruActive model and am recommending them to friends. They kind of sell themselves though because my amigos and amigas know that I am a rough rider and put my equipment through quite a grind.Having a great phone holder, especially coupled with a Bluetooth speaker, really opens up the possibilities on bike rides. I use voice navigation for when my routes are complex, and on certain rides, I play a lot of music.This product is really good and stacks up to the best cost-no-object holders that I have seen or used, even though it is one of the least expensive.    So personally, I don’t believe in using mounts that don’t protect from real weather.However, my wife is a much more casual rider, and her bike setup isn’t amenable to a top-tube phone bag, so I ordered this for her. So far so good, she hasn’t had any issue with installing it, or removing it after her rides, and it’s held her phone secure over all the potholes and road construction around here. She really likes the aesthetics of being able to swap out the different colors of bands between rides.But be aware that her use case is a casual rider on streets and through parks, I wouldn’t count on this type of mount for gnarly singletrack, high speed road riding, or a multiday backwoods gravel epic.

   The Truactive bike phone holder is an excellent product. There are a few hiccups, but they are to be expected. Your phone may not fit in the holder if you have a protector case and I’m a little nervous due to my using it on a motorcycle. I haven’t had any issue, but the construction isn’t made expressly for high wind environments of motorcycling.

   It is well priced and we have them on both of our ATVs. It is a bit tedious to pull the four edges to secure it, but it has a good grip. The mechanics that open and close the spring is worn out or dirty and it doesn’t work now. For riding on the site streets, we need them to hold our phones which run speedometer apps. On the trail, not so good because it is getting wet and dirty.

   I originally bought this is June of 2022 to hold my husband’s phone on his 4-wheeler. He has the map app for all the trails and previously just had his phone wedged into a pack somewhere on the front box. He LOVED it! Super easy to install, a great selection of colors to mix and match according to your mood and the sturdiest most secure phone holder we’ve ever used! We were riding some pretty intense trails with lots of tight turns, steep inclines and declines and tons of bumps and washboard, etc. His phone never came loose, not even once. So, a couple months later when we took the kids on a 4-wheeling trip we got 2 more for the teens. Theirs both worked just as well & they loves having easy access to changing their music, checking in on texts and of course some “go pro” style action videos they recorded in Snapchat ????I HIGHLY recommend!

   The bottom needs to be sturdier to hold the phone , it sometimes break, and you have to snap it back. Other than that, good value for the price

   Okay, I’ve been using this holder for 6 months now, and I have not had a single issue with it. My phone has never fell. Sturdy, stable, convenient, can easily rotate from horizontal position, when I need to use map or check something, to vertical position, when I want to video record my rides. Speaking of video recording, I did a little research before buying – no holder is going to provide smooth, stable footage. However, sometimes my videos were surprisingly good with this holder depending on pavement and speed. The only downside for me is that I have to put these rubber strings on all 4 corners of my phone before the ride and take it off after the ride. A little lazy to do it every day but I understand this is what enhances stability and there’s nothing better on the market yet.

   I am very impressed with how stable and handy this little guy is. I go bike riding on bumpy dirt roads. The grip on my phone is so strong, It even hangs on tight to my phone if (I mean when) I forget to put the rubber band on. As a bonus I’ve been able to help my friends in a pinch. I attach a small , powerful flashlight to it by placing it in the phone spot and stretching the rubber band over the light on both sides, then I can lend it to someone who doesn’t have their bike light. It doesn’t seem to matter that the flashlight is too small for the clamp, the rubber band doesn’t have trouble holding it steady. I’ve done that a handful of times.
